Historical Notes: This marble top was one of four that returned to America with Jefferson's household furnishings in 1790.[2] It is the only one made of Brescia marble and also the sole top to survive with its perforated gallery intact. The skirt, a simple drum, is supported by square, slightly tapering legs terminating in wooden rollers affixed to the legs with metal collars. The table has no carved ornamentation of any kind.
