Skipwith Book List
From Thomas Jefferson Encyclopedia
On 17 July 1771 Robert Skipwith, Thomas Jefferson's brother-in-law, wrote to Jefferson requesting recommendations for his personal library. Jefferson wrote back on 3 August 1771 with a "List of Books for a Private Library." The full text of the letters, with accompanying editorial notes, can be found in PTJ 1:74-75, 76-81.
